\u00ab\u00a0As someone who likes to say yes to diverse creative opportunities that arise, creating jewellery sprang forth from collaborating with Australian fashion house Romance Was Born in 2010. Having only been making jewellery for a few years, it\u2019s a constant exploration and experimental process of transforming my favorite medium, resin, into works of wearable sculpture. Working with a variety of resins, the base material of plastic, my aim is to take one of the most mundane and pervasive materials of the 20th century and transform it into something as precious and far from throw away as possible. Like my artwork, my jewellery pieces are jointly inspired by the intersecting loves of natural history and the ornate decorative arts of historical epochs from the baroque and rococo interior decoration and home wares of Europe to Chinese jade carving.\u00a0\u00bb Kate Rhode<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Comme quelqu’un qui aime dire oui \u00e0 toutes les opportunit\u00e9s cr\u00e9atives, fabriquer des bijoux a co\u00efncid\u00e9 avec la collaboration avec une maison de couture australienne. Romance est n\u00e9 en 2010. Etant relativement nouvelle dans ce m\u00e9tier c’est une exploration et un processus exp\u00e9rimental constant de transformer mon m\u00e9dium pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9, la r\u00e9sine, en des \u0153uvres sculpturales portables. En travaillant avec une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de r\u00e9sines, le mat\u00e9riau de base du plastique, mon but est de rendre l’un des mat\u00e9riaux les plus banales et omnipr\u00e9sents du 20e si\u00e8cle en quelque chose de pr\u00e9cieux et surtout pas \u00e0 jeter. Comme dans mon travail d\u2019artiste, mes pi\u00e8ces de joaillerie sont inspir\u00e9es conjointement par les amours crois\u00e9es de l’histoire naturelle et les arts d\u00e9coratifs, -\u00e9poques historiques baroque, rococo-, d\u00e9corations des maisons europ\u00e9ennes jusqu\u2019aux sculptures en jade de Chine.\u00a0\u00bb Kate Rhode
