The angle at which one looks at the piece changes these properties. Jewellery is not placed on a stand to be looked at but worn on the body. There is movement involved and thus the perspective continually changes. This is what these pieces are about. When looked at directly from the front they are almost transparent with only the tracery of a pattern visible. As the angle changes the openings in the tracery become smaller, they close up, they reflect light and colour appears. This disappear again as the angle reverts from the oblique to the direct view. These changes can take place rapidly causing a flash of colour or they can occur slowly as a transition from one state into the other. These are qualities that are found in faceted gemstones for instance. This is also the case with mirrors. Or with deep water creatures that emit light pulses. They reflect or emit light and colour; they register and reflect change of movement. This is their mystery and what makes them fascinating. In these pieces I wish to convey this kind of surprise, mysteryand fascination. » Daniel Kruger
