Je m’appuie sur ma propre nature obsessionnelle, la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de verrouiller les faits et les id\u00e9es, mais aussi la possibilit\u00e9 de tout lib\u00e9rer, d\u2019ouvrir par un mouvement plus fluide, un mouvement qui am\u00e8ne un sourire na\u00eff sur le visage de celui qui porte le bijou.. J’essaie souvent de changer ma fa\u00e7on de travailler, de plier ma volont\u00e9 \u00e0 des plaisirs moins rationnels, \u00e0 des plans moins pr\u00e9con\u00e7ues, de proc\u00e9der de fa\u00e7on moins tortur\u00e9e, mais, d’une fa\u00e7on ou d\u2019une autre, je reviens toujours \u00e0 ces modes de fabrication, avec des mat\u00e9riaux les plus durs. Mon travail s’appuie sur des id\u00e9aux parfaits, des harmonies math\u00e9matiques, des formes circulaires propres – enti\u00e8res et compl\u00e8tes. Mais tant de travail manuel signifie que ces formes parfaites ressemblent moins \u00e0 un dessin d’ordinateur pr\u00e9cis, qu\u2019\u00e0 la perfection harmonique d’une ouverture de fleur au soleil du matin – asym\u00e9trique, m\u00e2ch\u00e9e par les insectes, les compromis, et merveilleusement bancale. \n\u00ab\u00a0My work is about many things, and is often so simple that it is purely about the joy of making in metal. i draw on my own obsessive nature, the need to lock down facts and ideas, and also the ability to free it all out, open to a more fluid movement, a movement that hopefully brings a naive smile to the face of the wearer. i often try to change my way of working, to bend my will to less rational delights, to less preconceived plans, to less tortured processes of making, but, somehow i am always drawn back to these tight modes of making in the hardest of materials. in their shapes, my work draws on perfect ideals, mathematical harmonies and clean circular forms – whole and complete. yet so much hand-work means that these perfect forms are less like a precise computer drawing, and closer (though nowhere near as beautiful) to the harmonic perfection of a flower opening to the morning sun – skewed, chewed on by insects, compromised, and wondrously wonky. it is my hope that in making such fiddly precise forms by hand, that i can start to move towards the grander perfection of this infinitely beautiful imperfect world in which we live.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n
