\u00abEn tant qu’artiste, je suis devenu de plus en plus difficile \u00e0 cat\u00e9goriser: je me suis impos\u00e9 comme une figure majeure de la c\u00e9ramique internationale dans les ann\u00e9es 1970 et 1980. Puis dans les ann\u00e9es 90, j’ai diversifi\u00e9 ma pratique pour inclure la peinture, la sculpture et les commandes publiques. J’ai termin\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin de cette d\u00e9cennie comme l’un des trois conservateurs du British Art Show.<\/p>\n

\u00abMa passion personnelle est le motif et la couleur, je n’ai pas d’esth\u00e9tique minimaliste, je crois que la complexit\u00e9 peut enrichir nos vies mais ne doit pas nous submerger, chaque \u00e9l\u00e9ment d’une composition doit ajouter \u00e0 l’exp\u00e9rience globale.
\n\u00ab\u00a0Ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, la collaboration est devenue une partie importante de mon travail, que ce soit en tant qu’artiste, en tant que commissaire ou en travaillant avec des architectes ; je crois que nous pouvons maximiser notre potentiel individuel et celui d’un projet gr\u00e2ce au travail d’\u00e9quipe. La c\u00e9ramique m’a laiss\u00e9 un fort int\u00e9r\u00eat pour la fonction, et mon approche des projets publics satisfait ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 de ma cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9.La fonction pourrait \u00eatre esth\u00e9tique ou pratique, mais l’un des grands plaisirs de travailler en \u00e9quipe est le sentiment qu’un projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 compris et engendr\u00e9 une r\u00e9ponse cr\u00e9ative.\u00a0\u00bb Jacqui Poncelet<\/p>\n

Jacqueline Poncelet studied ceramics at Wolverhapton College of Art and the Royal College of Art and was a major figure on the international ceramics scene in the 1970s and 80s. In the early 1990s she diversified her practice to include painting, sculpture and public art commissions. In 2000 Poncelet was one of the three curators of the British Art Show and collaboration has become an increasingly important part of her work. Most recently, she was responsible for designing \u2018Wrapper\u2019, the vitreous enamel cladding at Edgware Road station (the largest of its kind in Europe) and also collaborated with Tate and Melin Tregwynt woolen mill to create a homeware range inspired by her home in the Welsh Valleys.<\/p>\n

Poncelet has lectured at a number of institutions, including the Royal College of Art and the University of Brighton, and has exhibited her work internationally in numerous solo and group shows. Her work can be seen in many public collections, including that of the V&A, London, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Royal Scottish Museum, Edinburgh, and National Museum of Victoria, Australia.<\/p>\n
